5-Ingredient Roast (Effortless & Flavorful!) 🍖🔥

This simple, juicy roast requires just 5 ingredients and minimal prep—perfect for busy days but impressive enough for Sunday dinner.


🍽️ Ingredients

  • 1 (3-4 lb) chuck roast (or beef/pork shoulder)

  • 1 (1 oz) packet dry onion soup mix (or ranch seasoning)

  • 1 cup beef broth (or water + 1 tsp Worcestershire)

  • 4-5 carrots, chopped into chunks (optional, but classic)

  • 2 tbsp olive oil (or butter)

(Salt & pepper are freebies!)


👩🍳 Instructions

  1. Sear: Heat oil in a Dutch oven (or skillet). Pat roast dry, season with salt & pepper, and sear 3-4 mins per side until browned.

  2. Season: Sprinkle onion soup mix over the roast, then pour broth around it (not on top!). Add carrots if using.

  3. Slow Cook:

    • Oven: Cover and bake at 300°F (150°C) for 3-4 hours until fork-tender.

    • Slow cooker: Low for 8 hours or High for 5 hours.

  4. Shred/Slice: Serve with the rich jus (reduce on stove for thicker gravy).


💡 Pro Tips

✅ No soup mix? Use 1 tbsp garlic powder + 1 tsp onion powder.
✅ Extra flavor: Add 1 tbsp soy sauce to the broth.
✅ Crispy crust: Broil the roast 5 mins after cooking.
