Bacon-Wrapped Smokies with Brown Sugar and Butter
These Bacon-Wrapped Smokies are the ultimate appetizer: sweet, salty, smoky, and absolutely irresistible. They’re easy to prepare and perfect for parties, game days, or holiday gatherings.
Ingredients
- 1 pound Little Smokies (cocktail sausages)
- 1 pound bacon (thin-cut), cut into thirds
- 1/2 cup light brown sugar, packed
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (optional, for a spicy kick)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with foil or parchment paper for easy cleanup. Place a wire rack on top of the baking sheet if you prefer the bacon to crisp evenly.
- Wrap the Smokies:
- Wrap each Little Smokie with a piece of bacon and secure it with a toothpick. Place the wrapped smokies seam-side down on the prepared baking sheet.
- Prepare the Topping:
- In a small bowl, mix the brown sugar, melted butter, and cayenne pepper (if using) until combined.
- Coat the Smokies:
- Spoon or brush the brown sugar mixture generously over the bacon-wrapped smokies.
- Bake:
- Bake for 20–25 minutes, or until the bacon is crispy and the brown sugar mixture is bubbly. For extra crispiness, broil the smokies for 1–2 minutes at the end of baking, watching closely to prevent burning.
- Serve:
- Let the smokies cool slightly before serving. Serve them warm on a platter with toothpicks for easy grabbing.
Tips:
- Double the recipe for larger gatherings—they disappear fast!
- For an extra flavor twist, drizzle a bit of maple syrup over the smokies before baking.
- Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge and reheat in the oven to maintain crispiness.
