  • Ingredients:
  • Directions:

Ingredients:

  • 1 lb thinly sliced beef (ribeye or sirloin works best)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 onion, sliced
  • 8 oz mushrooms, sliced (optional)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup heavy cream (or milk for a lighter version)
  • 2 cups shredded provolone or mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce

Directions:

  1. Preheat the oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch casserole dish with cooking spray or butter.
  2. Cook the beef:
    • Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add the thinly sliced beef and cook until browned. Remove the beef from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Cook the vegetables:
    • In the same skillet, add the sliced bell pepper, onion, mushrooms (if using), and garlic. Sauté until the vegetables are softened, about 5-7 minutes. Season with salt, black pepper, and paprika. Stir in the Worcestershire sauce.
  4. Assemble the casserole:
    • Spread the cooked beef evenly in the bottom of the prepared casserole dish. Layer the sautéed vegetables over the beef. Sprinkle half of the shredded cheese over the top.
  5. Prepare the egg mixture:
    • In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs and heavy cream. Pour the mixture evenly over the beef and vegetables in the casserole dish.
  6. Add the final layer of cheese:
    • Sprinkle the remaining cheese (provolone/mozzarella and cheddar) evenly over the top.
  7. Bake the casserole:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the casserole is set and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  8. Serve:
    • Allow the casserole to cool for 5 minutes before serving. Garnish with fresh parsley or a drizzle of hot sauce if desired.

This Baked Philly Cheesesteak Casserole is a crowd-pleaser and makes a fantastic low-carb alternative to the classic sandwich. Serve it with a side salad or garlic bread for a complete meal!
