Beef Noodle Casserole

Ingredients

  • 12 oz (340g) egg noodles
  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (10.5 oz/300g) condensed cream of mushroom soup (or homemade substitute)
  • 1 cup (240ml) sour cream
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) milk
  • 1 cup (100g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup (50g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • Optional: 1/2 cup breadcrumbs or crushed crackers (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the noodles:
    • Cook the egg noodles according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. Cook the beef:
    • In a large skillet, cook the ground beef over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
    • Add the diced onion and minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes, until the onion is softened.
  4. Prepare the sauce:
    • In a large bowl, mix the condensed cream of mushroom soup, sour cream, milk, paprika, salt, and black pepper until well combined.
    • Stir in the cooked noodles and beef mixture.
  5. Assemble the casserole:
    • Pour the mixture into the prepared baking dish. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheeses evenly over the top.
    • If using, sprinkle breadcrumbs or crushed crackers over the cheese.
  6. Bake:
    • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  7. Serve:
    • Let the casserole cool for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy!
