Biscuits & Gravy Hashbrown Casserole

Ingredients

  • 1 can (16 oz) refrigerated biscuits, cut into quarters
  • 1 lb (450g) breakfast sausage
  • 2 cups (200g) frozen hashbrowns, thawed
  • 1 1/2 cups (150g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 cups (480ml) milk
  • 3 tbsp (25g) all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/4 tsp paprika (optional, for extra flavor)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the sausage:
    • In a large skillet, cook the breakfast sausage over medium heat until browned and crumbled. Drain any excess grease and set aside.
  3. Make the gravy:
    • In the same skillet, sprinkle the flour over the cooked sausage. Stir to coat the sausage and cook for 1-2 minutes to remove the raw flour taste.
    • Gradually whisk in the milk, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Cook until the mixture thickens into a gravy (about 5 minutes).
    • Season with salt, black pepper, garlic powder (if using), and paprika (if using).
  4. Assemble the casserole:
    • Spread the thawed hashbrowns evenly in the prepared baking dish.
    • Pour the sausage gravy over the hashbrowns.
    • Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the top.
    • Arrange the biscuit quarters evenly over the casserole.
  5. Bake:
    • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the biscuits are golden brown and the casserole is bubbly.
  6. Serve:
    • Let the casserole cool for 5 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm!

Tips

  • Add-ins: Include diced onions, bell peppers, or mushrooms for extra flavor.
  • Make ahead: Assemble the casserole the night before, cover, and refrigerate. Bake it in the morning, adding a few extra minutes to the cooking time.
  • Storage: Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. Reheat in the oven or microwave.

This Biscuits & Gravy Hashbrown Casserole is a hearty and satisfying breakfast dish that’s sure to become a family favorite. Enjoy! 🍳🥓✨
