Butter Swim Biscuits Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1 1/2 cups buttermilk
  • 1 stick (1/2 cup) unsalted butter, melted

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt.
    • Add the buttermilk to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Do not overmix.
  3. Prepare the Baking Dish:
    • Pour the melted butter into an 8×8-inch baking dish, making sure it evenly coats the bottom.
  4. Add the Dough:
    • Drop the biscuit dough by spoonfuls into the baking dish, directly into the melted butter. Use a spatula to spread the dough out evenly.
  5. Score the Dough:
    • Using a knife, score the dough into 9 squares. This will make it easier to cut the biscuits after baking.
  6. Bake the Biscuits:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the tops are golden brown and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Cool and Serve:
    • Remove from the oven and let the biscuits cool in the dish for a few minutes before cutting along the scored lines and serving.
