Butter Swim Biscuits Recipe

Ingredients

  • For the Biscuits:
    • 2 cups all-purpose flour
    • 1 tablespoon baking powder
    • 1 teaspoon salt
    • ¼ cup granulated sugar
    • ½ cup milk
    • ½ cup plain yogurt or sour cream
    • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • For the Butter Swim:
    • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
    • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
    • 1 teaspoon dried herbs (like thyme or parsley) (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C).
  2. Make the Biscuit Dough:
    • In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar.
    • In another bowl, mix the milk, yogurt, and ½ cup melted butter until well combined.
    • Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. The dough will be sticky.
  3. Prepare the Baking Dish:
    • In a 9×13-inch baking dish, pour the remaining ½ cup of melted butter. If using, mix in garlic powder and dried herbs.
  4. Transfer the Dough:
    • Spoon the biscuit dough directly into the baking dish over the melted butter. Spread it out evenly but don’t worry about making it perfect.
  5. Bake:
    • Bake for about 20-25 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the biscuits are cooked through.
  6. Serve:
    • Let them cool for a few minutes before serving. You can drizzle with extra melted butter or serve with honey or jam if desired.
