Ingredients
For the Filling:
- 4 cups green cabbage, finely shredded
- 2 large eggs, beaten
- 1 cup carrots, grated
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 tsp soy sauce
- 1 tsp sesame oil (optional)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 1 tbsp vegetable oil (for sautéing)
For the Egg Rolls:
- 10-12 egg roll wrappers
- Vegetable oil (for frying)
Instructions
- Prepare the Filling:
- In a skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion and garlic, sautéing until softened.
- Add the shredded cabbage and grated carrots to the skillet. Cook for about 5-7 minutes until the cabbage is tender.
- Stir in the beaten eggs, soy sauce, sesame oil, salt, and pepper. Cook until the eggs are fully set, then remove from heat and let the filling cool.
- Assemble the Egg Rolls:
- Lay an egg roll wrapper on a clean surface with one corner facing you (like a diamond shape).
- Place about 2-3 tablespoons of the cabbage filling in the center of the wrapper. Fold the bottom corner over the filling, then fold in the sides and roll it up tightly. Seal the top corner with a little water.
- Repeat with the remaining wrappers and filling.
- Fry the Egg Rolls:
- In a deep skillet or pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat (about 350°F or 175°C).
- Fry the egg rolls in batches until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per side. Drain on paper towels.
- Serve:
- Serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce, such as sweet and sour sauce or soy sauce.
