Cabbage Fritters Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups finely shredded cabbage (about half a small head)
  • 1/2 cup grated carrots (optional)
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour (or almond flour for a low-carb version)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Olive oil or vegetable oil (for frying)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Cabbage:

  • In a large bowl, combine the shredded cabbage, grated carrots, and chopped green onions.

2. Mix the Batter:

  • Add the flour, egg, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper to the cabbage mixture. Mix until everything is well combined. If the mixture feels too wet, add a little more flour.

3. Heat the Oil:

  • In a large skillet, heat about 1/4 inch of oil over medium heat. You can test the oil by dropping in a small spoonful of the batter; it should sizzle and bubble.

4. Fry the Fritters:

  • Using a spoon or a small ice cream scoop, drop spoonfuls of the batter into the hot oil, flattening them slightly to form patties. Cook in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan.
  • Fry for about 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy.

5. Drain:

  • Once cooked, transfer the fritters to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.

6. Serve:

  • Enjoy warm, with your favorite dipping sauce, such as sour cream, yogurt, or a spicy sauce!
