Cheesy Baked Cabbage Steaks 🧀🥬

These crispy, cheesy cabbage steaks are a delicious low-carb side dish or vegetarian main! Roasted cabbage slices topped with melty cheese, garlic, and herbs—simple, healthy, and packed with flavor.


Ingredients (Serves 4)

  • 1 medium green cabbage, cut into 1-inch thick “steaks”

  • 2 tbsp olive oil

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika

  • ½ tsp salt & black pepper

  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or Parmesan blend)

  • 2 tbsp grated Parmesan (optional, for extra crispiness)

  • 1 tbsp fresh parsley or chives, chopped


Instructions

1️⃣ Prep Cabbage

  • Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).

  • Slice cabbage into 1-inch thick rounds (keep the core intact to hold slices together).

  • Brush both sides with olive oil and place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

2️⃣ Season

  • Sprinkle with garlic powder, smoked paprika, salt, and pepper.

3️⃣ Roast

  • Bake for 20-25 mins until edges are golden and slightly crispy.

4️⃣ Add Cheese

  • Remove from oven, top with shredded cheese and Parmesan.

  • Return to oven for 3-5 mins until cheese melts.

5️⃣ Garnish & Serve

  • Sprinkle with fresh herbs and serve warm.


Tips

🔥 Extra crispy? Broil for 1-2 mins at the end.
🌶️ Spicy kick? Add red pepper flakes before baking.
🍅 More flavor? Drizzle with balsamic glaze or marinara sauce.

Great with grilled chicken, roasted meats, or as a veggie main! 😋

Variation: Try with bacon bits or a sprinkle of everything bagel seasoning!
