Ingredients:

  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (15 oz) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (14.5 oz) diced tomatoes
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 8 oz (225g) pasta (penne, rotini, or your choice)
  • 1 cup (100g) shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup (100g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • Fresh parsley, chopped (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Pasta:
    • In a large pot, cook the pasta according to the package instructions. Drain and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Ground Beef Mixture:
    • In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the ground beef until browned. Drain any excess fat.
    • Add the chopped onion and minced garlic to the skillet. Cook until the onion is translucent, about 5 minutes.
    • Stir in the tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and cook for 10 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.
  3. Combine and Cook:
    • Add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the ground beef mixture. Stir until well combined.
    • Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella and cheddar cheeses evenly over the pasta mixture. Cover the skillet and cook until the cheese is melted and bubbly, about 5 minutes.
  4. Serve:
    • Garnish with chopped fresh parsley, if desired. Serve warm.
