Here’s a delicious and easy recipe for chocolate chip vanilla mousse that’s light, creamy, and perfect for dessert!

Chocolate Chip Vanilla Mousse

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 1/2 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 2 large egg whites
  • 1/4 tsp cream of tartar (optional)
  • 1/2 cup mini chocolate chips (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Melt the Chocolate:
    • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the semi-sweet chocolate chips in 30-second intervals, stirring in between until smooth. Let it cool slightly.
  2. Whip the Cream:
    • In a large mixing bowl, beat the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract together until stiff peaks form. Be careful not to overwhip.
  3. Prepare the Egg Whites:
    • In another bowl, beat the egg whites and cream of tartar (if using) until soft peaks form. Gradually add a bit of powdered sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks form.
  4. Combine Mixtures:
    • Gently fold the melted chocolate into the whipped cream until well combined. Then, carefully fold in the whipped egg whites until just incorporated. Be gentle to maintain the airy texture.
  5. Chill:
    • Spoon the mousse into individual serving dishes or glasses. Chill in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours to set.
  6. Serve:
    • Before serving, garnish with mini chocolate chips or shaved chocolate.

Tips:

  • For a richer flavor, you can use dark chocolate instead of semi-sweet.
  • You can also add a splash of coffee or liqueur to the melted chocolate for an extra depth of flavor.
