Christmas Crack Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 sleeve of Saltine crackers (about 40 crackers)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter (2 sticks)
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • 2 cups chocolate chips (semi-sweet or milk chocolate)
  • Optional toppings: chopped nuts, crushed candy canes, or sprinkles

Instructions:

1. Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet (15×10 inch) with aluminum foil or parchment paper, and lightly spray with cooking spray.

2. Arrange the Crackers:

  • Place the Saltine crackers in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, covering the entire surface.

3. Make the Toffee:

  • In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Once melted, add the brown sugar. Bring the mixture to a boil, stirring constantly, and let it boil for about 3 minutes until it thickens slightly.

4. Pour the Toffee:

  • Carefully pour the butter and brown sugar mixture evenly over the crackers, spreading it to cover as much of the crackers as possible.

5. Bake:

  • Bake in the preheated oven for about 5-7 minutes, until the toffee is bubbly. Keep an eye on it to prevent burning.

6. Add Chocolate:

  • Remove the baking sheet from the oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips over the hot toffee. Let them sit for a couple of minutes to melt, then use a spatula to spread the melted chocolate evenly over the top.

7. Add Toppings:

  • If desired, sprinkle chopped nuts, crushed candy canes, or sprinkles over the melted chocolate.

8. Cool:

  • Let the Christmas Crack cool at room temperature for about 1-2 hours until the chocolate is set. You can also place it in the refrigerator to speed up the process.

9. Break into Pieces:

  • Once cooled and set, break the Christmas Crack into pieces and enjoy!

Enjoy!

This Christmas Crack is a delightful mix of sweet and salty flavors, making it a perfect holiday treat to share with friends and family!
