For the Bars:

  • 1 box of yellow cake mix (or 1 ½ cups from scratch)
  • 2 large eggs
  • ½ cup butter (melted)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1 cup powdered sugar

For the Cinnamon Sugar Swirl:

  • 1/4 cup brown sugar (packed)
  • 1 tablespoon cinnamon

For the Cream Cheese Glaze:

  • 4 oz cream cheese (softened)
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons milk

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Oven and Pan: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease a 9×13-inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy removal.

  2. Make the Batter: In a large bowl, mix together the cake mix, eggs, melted butter, vanilla extract, and cinnamon until smooth. The batter will be thick. Spread it evenly in the prepared baking dish.

  3. Create the Cinnamon Sugar Swirl: In a small bowl, mix together the brown sugar and cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture evenly over the batter in the pan. Use a knife or a skewer to swirl the cinnamon sugar into the batter, creating a marble effect.

  4. Bake the Bars: Bake the bars for about 25-30 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Keep an eye on them near the end of baking to avoid over-baking.

  5. Make the Cream Cheese Glaze: While the bars are baking, prepare the glaze. In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth. Add the powdered sugar, vanilla extract, and milk, and beat until creamy and smooth.

  6. Cool and Drizzle: Once the bars are out of the oven, let them cool for about 10 minutes. After cooling, drizzle the cream cheese glaze over the bars.

  7. Serve and Enjoy: Cut the bars into squares, and serve! Enjoy the delicious combination of cinnamon rolls and cake!
