Ingredients

For the Dough:

  • 4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet (2 ¼ tsp) instant yeast
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup milk, warmed
  • ⅓ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 large eggs

For the Filling:

  • ½ cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • ⅓ cup unsalted butter, softened

For the Glaze:

  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2-3 tbsp milk
  • ½ tsp vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough:
    • In a large bowl, combine 2 cups of flour, yeast, sugar, and salt.
    • In another bowl, mix warm milk, melted butter, and eggs.
    • Gradually add the wet mixture to the dry ingredients. Stir until combined, then add the remaining flour, a little at a time, until a dough forms.
  2. Knead the Dough:
    • Turn the dough out onto a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
    • Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
  3. Make the Filling:
    • In a small bowl, mix together brown sugar and cinnamon.
    • Roll the dough out on a floured surface into a rectangle (about 16×12 inches). Spread the softened butter over the dough and sprinkle the cinnamon-sugar mixture evenly on top.
  4. Roll and Cut:
    • Starting from one long side, tightly roll the dough into a log. Cut into 12 equal pieces.
    • Place the rolls in a greased 9×13 inch baking dish. Cover and let rise for another 30 minutes.
  5. Bake:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
    • Bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes, or until golden brown.
  6. Make the Glaze:
    • While the rolls are baking, whisk together powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth. Adjust the consistency with more milk or sugar if necessary.
  7. Finish:
    • Once the rolls are done, let them cool slightly before drizzling with glaze.

Enjoy your homemade cinnamon rolls! They’re perfect for breakfast or as a sweet treat anytime.
