Crab-Stuffed Cheddar Bay Biscuits with Lemon Butter 🦀🧈

Inspired by Red Lobster’s famous biscuits, but loaded with crab and dipped in a zesty lemon butter!

Prep Time: 20 mins | Cook Time: 15 mins | Total Time: 35 mins

Servings: 8 large biscuits

Ingredients

For the Cheddar Bay Biscuits:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tbsp baking powder

  • 1½ tsp Old Bay seasoning (or Cajun seasoning)

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp salt

  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper (optional, for heat)

  • ½ cup cold unsalted butter, cubed

  • 1 cup shredded sharp cheddar cheese

  • ⅔ cup buttermilk (*or milk + 1 tsp vinegar*)

For the Crab Filling:

  • 8 oz lump crabmeat (drained, picked for shells)

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened

  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise

  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard

  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • 1 tsp lemon zest

  • 2 tbsp chopped chives or parsley

  • Salt & pepper to taste

For the Lemon Butter Glaze:

  • ¼ cup melted butter

  • 1 tbsp lemon juice

  • 1 tsp garlic powder

  • 1 tsp chopped parsley

Instructions

1. Make the Crab Filling:

  • In a bowl, mix cream cheese, mayo, Dijon, Worcestershire, lemon zest, chives, salt, and pepper until smooth.

  • Gently fold in crabmeat (don’t overmix). Chill until ready to use.

2. Make the Biscuit Dough:

  • Whisk flour, baking powder, Old Bay, garlic powder, salt, and cayenne in a bowl.

  • Cut in cold butter with a pastry cutter (or fingers) until crumbly.

  • Stir in cheddar cheese, then add buttermilk until just combined (don’t overmix).

3. Assemble & Bake:

  • Scoop ¼ cup dough, flatten slightly, add 1 tbsp crab filling, then seal with more dough.

  • Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

  • Bake at 425°F (220°C) for 12-15 mins until golden.

4. Lemon Butter Glaze:

  • Whisk melted butter, lemon juice, garlic powder, and parsley.

  • Brush generously over warm biscuits.

Serving Suggestions

🔥 Serve hot with extra lemon butter for dipping!
🍽 Pairs with: Chowder, grilled corn, or a crisp salad.

Tips

  • For fluffier biscuits, handle the dough minimally.

  • No crab? Swap for cooked shrimp or lobster.

  • Make ahead: Prep filling & dry mix the night before.

These are irresistibly cheesy, tender, and packed with crab—perfect for seafood lovers! 😋🦀

Would you like a spicy remoulade sauce for dipping instead?
