Crispy Baked French Fries Recipe

Ingredients

  • 4 large russet potatoes
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon paprika (optional)
  • Fresh parsley (for garnish, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. Prepare the Potatoes:
    • Wash and peel (if desired) the russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick.
  3. Soak the Fries:
    • Soak the cut potatoes in cold water for at least 30 minutes. This helps remove excess starch and makes them crispier.
  4. Dry the Potatoes:
    • After soaking, drain the potatoes and pat them dry with a clean kitchen towel or paper towels.
  5. Season the Fries:
    • In a large bowl, toss the dried potato strips with olive oil, salt, pepper, and any additional seasonings (garlic powder, paprika) until evenly coated.
  6. Bake the Fries:
    • Spread the fries in a single layer on the prepared baking sheet, making sure they aren’t overcrowded. This helps them crisp up.
  7. Cooking Time:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for about 30-35 minutes, flipping the fries halfway through. Bake until golden brown and crispy.
  8. Serve:
    • Remove from the oven and let cool slightly. Garnish with fresh parsley if desired, and serve with your favorite dipping sauces.
