Ingredients:

  • 1 lb chicken breast tenders
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup breadcrumbs (panko or regular)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tsp paprika
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp onion powder
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp black pepper
  • 2 large eggs
  • Vegetable oil, for frying

Instructions:

  1. Prepare Chicken:
    • If using whole chicken breasts, cut them into strips about 1 inch wide.
    • Place the chicken strips in a bowl with the buttermilk and let them marinate for at least 15 minutes (or up to overnight in the refrigerator).
  2. Prepare Breading Station:
    • In a shallow bowl, combine the flour, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper.
    • In another shallow bowl, beat the eggs.
    • In a third shallow bowl, mix the breadcrumbs and grated Parmesan cheese.
  3. Bread Chicken Strips:
    • Remove the chicken strips from the buttermilk, letting the excess drip off.
    • Dredge each chicken strip in the seasoned flour, then dip in the beaten eggs, and finally coat with the breadcrumb and Parmesan mixture. Press the breadcrumbs onto the chicken to ensure they stick well.
  4. Heat Oil:
    • In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat about 1 inch of vegetable oil to 350°F (175°C).
  5. Fry Chicken Strips:
    • Carefully place a few chicken strips at a time into the hot oil. Fry for about 3-4 minutes per side, until golden brown and crispy. Ensure the internal temperature of the chicken reaches 165°F (74°C).
    • Use a slotted spoon to remove the chicken strips from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined tray to drain excess oil.
  6. Serve:
    • Serve the crispy chicken strips hot with your favorite dipping sauces like ranch, honey mustard, or barbecue sauce.
