🍤 Crispy Shrimp Wonton Cones with Spicy Crab Dip

Crunchy, golden wonton cones filled with succulent shrimp and served with a creamy, spicy crab dip—perfect for parties or as a fancy appetizer!

📝 Ingredients

For the Wonton Cones:

  • 12-15 square wonton wrappers

  • 12-15 medium shrimp, peeled and deveined (tail-on for presentation)

  • 1 tbsp soy sauce

  • 1 tsp sesame oil

  • 1 tsp honey

  • ½ tsp garlic powder

  • ½ tsp paprika

  • Oil for frying (vegetable or peanut oil)

For the Spicy Crab Dip:

  • 1 cup lump crabmeat, drained and picked for shells

  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened

  • ¼ cup mayonnaise

  • 2 tbsp sour cream

  • 1 tbsp sriracha (adjust to taste)

  • 1 tsp lime juice

  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce

  • ½ tsp Old Bay seasoning

  • 2 green onions, finely chopped

  • Salt & pepper to taste

For Garnish:

  • Sesame seeds

  • Chopped cilantro

  • Lime wedges

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Marinate the Shrimp

  1. In a bowl, mix soy sauce, sesame oil, honey, garlic powder, and paprika.

  2. Add shrimp and toss to coat. Let marinate 15-20 mins.

2. Make the Spicy Crab Dip

  1. In a bowl, beat cream cheese, mayo, and sour cream until smooth.

  2. Fold in crabmeat, sriracha, lime juice, Worcestershire, Old Bay, and green onions. Season to taste. Chill until serving.

3. Shape & Fry the Wonton Cones

  1. Cut wonton wrappers diagonally into triangles.

  2. Roll each triangle into a cone, overlapping edges slightly. Seal with a dab of water.

  3. Heat 1 inch of oil in a deep pan to 350°F (175°C).

  4. Fry cones in batches for 1-2 mins until golden and crispy. Drain on paper towels.

4. Cook the Shrimp

  1. Heat a skillet over medium-high. Cook shrimp 1-2 mins per side until pink.

  2. Skewer each shrimp with a toothpick for easy cone insertion.

5. Assemble & Serve

  1. Fill each wonton cone with 1-2 shrimp (tail sticking out).

  2. Serve with spicy crab dip on the side, garnished with sesame seeds, cilantro, and lime.

💡 Pro Tips

  • No-fry option: Brush wontons with oil and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 5-7 mins until crisp.

  • Prep ahead: Make crab dip a day in advance; fry cones and cook shrimp just before serving.

  • Extra crunch: Sprinkle cones with furikake or everything bagel seasoning.

Why This Works

  • Wonton cones add a fun, edible vessel for the shrimp.

  • Creamy-spicy crab dip balances the crispy shrimp perfectly.

Ideal for game day, cocktail parties, or a seafood-themed feast! 🎉

P.S. Swap crab for imitation crab or smoked salmon if needed—still delish!
