Elvis Presley Sheet Cake Recipe

Ingredients:

For the Cake:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 cup mashed ripe bananas (about 2-3 bananas)
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/2 cup chopped pecans (optional)

For the Peanut Butter Frosting:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 4 cups powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract

For the Chocolate Drizzle:

  • 1/2 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tablespoon butter

Instructions:

1. Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking pan.

2. Make the Cake Batter:

  • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt.
  • In another bowl, cream the softened butter. Add buttermilk, eggs, mashed bananas, and vanilla extract. Mix until well combined.
  • Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined. Fold in chopped pecans if using.

3. Bake the Cake:

  • Pour the batter into the prepared baking pan. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. Let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then transfer to a wire rack to cool completely.

4. Make the Peanut Butter Frosting:

  • In a mixing bowl, beat the softened butter and peanut butter together until smooth. Gradually add the powdered sugar, alternating with milk, until you reach your desired frosting consistency. Stir in the vanilla extract.

5. Frost the Cake:

  • Once the cake is completely cooled, spread the peanut butter frosting evenly over the top.

6. Prepare the Chocolate Drizzle:

  • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine chocolate chips and butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until melted and smooth.
  • Drizzle the melted chocolate over the frosted cake.

7. Serve:

  • Slice the cake and enjoy!
