Garlic and Butter Flatbread

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 3/4 cup warm water
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil (plus more for cooking)
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
  • 3-4 cloves garlic, minced
  • Fresh parsley or herbs for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Make the Dough:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
    • Gradually add warm water and olive oil, mixing until a soft dough forms. If the dough is too sticky, add a little more flour.
  2. Knead:
    • Turn the dough onto a lightly floured surface and knead for about 5 minutes until smooth. Cover and let it rest for 15-20 minutes.
  3. Prepare Garlic Butter:
    • In a small bowl, mix the melted butter with the minced garlic. Set aside.
  4. Roll Out the Dough:
    • Divide the dough into 4 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a flat circle or oval, about 1/4 inch thick.
  5. Cook the Flatbreads:
    • Heat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat and lightly grease with olive oil.
    • Cook each flatbread for about 2-3 minutes on one side until golden, then flip and brush the cooked side with garlic butter. Cook for another 2-3 minutes until the other side is golden.
  6. Garnish and Serve:
    • Remove from the skillet and brush with any remaining garlic butter. Garnish with chopped parsley or herbs if desired.

Tips:

  • Variations: Add cheese, herbs, or spices to the dough for extra flavor.
  • Storage: Leftovers can be stored in an airtight container and reheated in a skillet or microwave.
