Garlic Butter Lobster & Shrimp Tails

Ingredients:

  • 2 lobster tails, split and cleaned (8-10 oz each)

  • 1 lb large shrimp (16/20 count), peeled and deveined, tails on

  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter

  • 4-5 large cloves garlic, minced

  • 1 tsp smoked paprika (for color and depth)

  • Pinch of cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes (optional, for a subtle kick)

  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, finely chopped

  • 1 tbsp fresh lemon juice, plus lemon wedges for serving

  • Salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

  • Olive oil, for brushing


Instructions:

1. Prep the Seafood:

  • Lobster Tails: Ensure your lobster tails are split down the top of the shell. Use your fingers to gently loosen the meat from the shell, keeping it attached at the base. Carefully lift the meat up and rest it on top of the shell (this is called “butterflying”). Pat dry.

  • Shrimp: Pat the peeled and deveined shrimp very dry with paper towels. This is crucial for getting a golden sear.

2. Season:

  • Lightly brush both the lobster meat and the shrimp with olive oil.

  • Season generously with salt, black pepper, and the smoked paprika.

3. Sear the Seafood (The “Golden Sear Perfection” Step):

  • Heat a large cast-iron skillet or heavy-bottomed pan over medium-high heat until very hot.

  • Place the lobster tails in the skillet, meat-side-down. Cook for 2-3 minutes without moving, until you achieve a beautiful golden-brown crust.

  • Flip the lobster tails so the meat is facing up. Add the shrimp to the skillet in a single layer.

  • Cook the shrimp for about 1-2 minutes per side, just until they turn pink and opaque. Remove everything from the skillet and set aside on a warm plate. The lobster and shrimp will finish cooking in the next step. Do not overcook at this stage.

4. Create the “Next-Level Flavor Boost” Garlic Butter Sauce:

  • Reduce the heat to medium-low. Add the butter to the same skillet.

  • Once melted, add the minced garlic. Sauté for 30-60 seconds until fragrant but not burnt.

  • Add the cayenne pepper (if using) and half of the chopped parsley. Swirl the pan.

  • Squeeze in the fresh lemon juice to deglaze the pan, scraping up all the delicious browned bits from the bottom.

5. Combine and Baste for “Flavor-Packed” Perfection:

  • Return the lobster and shrimp to the skillet, along with any accumulated juices.

  • Spoon the garlic butter sauce over the seafood continuously for 1-2 minutes until everything is heated through and coated in the glorious sauce. The lobster should be opaque and firm.

6. Serve Immediately (The “Date Night Win”):

  • Plate the lobster and shrimp directly from the skillet. Drizzle every last drop of the garlic butter sauce over the top.

  • Garnish with the remaining fresh parsley and serve immediately with lemon wedges on the side.
