Garlic Honey Butter Salmon
This Garlic Honey Butter Salmon recipe creates an incredibly flavorful, sweet, and savory dish that’s elegant enough for company but easy enough for a weeknight dinner. The sauce is absolutely divine!
Ingredients
-
2 salmon fillets (about 6 oz each), skin-on or skinless
-
60 g (½ stick or 4 tablespoons) butter
-
2 tablespoons honey
-
2-3 cloves garlic, minced
-
Juice of half a lemon (about 1-2 tablespoons)
-
½ teaspoon salt
-
½ teaspoon black pepper
-
½ teaspoon onion powder
-
Fresh parsley or chives, chopped (for garnish)
-
Lemon slices (for serving)
Instructions
-
Prepare the salmon: Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Season both sides with salt, black pepper, and onion powder.
-
Make the sauce: In a small bowl, whisk together the honey, minced garlic, and lemon juice until well combined.
-
Cook the salmon: Heat a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add 1 tablespoon of butter. Once hot, place the salmon fillets in the skillet (presentation-side down if skinless). Cook for 4-6 minutes until golden brown.
-
Flip and add sauce: Carefully flip the salmon. Reduce heat to medium. Add the remaining butter to the skillet. Once melted, pour the honey-garlic mixture over the salmon. Spoon the sauce over the fillets continuously for 1-2 minutes.
-
Finish cooking: Continue cooking for another 2-4 minutes, basting occasionally, until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork (internal temperature of 125-130°F for medium).
-
Serve: Transfer salmon to plates. Drizzle with the pan sauce from the skillet. Garnish with fresh parsley or chives and serve with lemon slices.
Tips for Perfect Salmon
-
Don’t overcrowd the pan – cook in batches if necessary
-
Use skin-on salmon for extra crispiness (the skin becomes deliciously crispy)
-
Adjust cooking time based on thickness of your fillets
-
Don’t overcook – salmon is best when still slightly translucent in the center
-
Double the sauce if you love extra for drizzling over sides like rice or vegetables
Serving Suggestions
-
Serve with rice, quinoa, or roasted potatoes
-
Pair with steamed asparagus, green beans, or broccoli
-
Excellent with a simple side salad
