Homemade Kool-Aid Licorice Ropes

Ingredients:

  • 1 package of Kool-Aid powder (your choice of flavor)
  • 2 cups of sugar
  • 1/4 cup corn syrup
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 2 cups of water
  • 2 cups of flour

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the mixture:

    • In a medium-sized saucepan, combine the Kool-Aid powder, sugar, and corn syrup. Add the 2 cups of water and stir until the sugar is dissolved and everything is well mixed.
    • Heat the mixture over medium heat, stirring occasionally. Once it begins to simmer, continue to cook for about 5-7 minutes until the mixture has thickened slightly.
  2. Add the butter:

    • Add the 2 tablespoons of butter to the mixture and stir until it has completely melted and incorporated into the syrup.
  3. Make the dough:

    • Gradually add the 2 cups of flour to the syrup mixture, stirring constantly to avoid lumps. Once all the flour is added, keep stirring until a thick dough forms. This will take about 5 minutes of stirring. The dough should be firm and elastic.
  4. Cool and knead the dough:

    • Remove the saucepan from the heat and let the dough cool for a few minutes. Once it’s cool enough to handle, transfer the dough to a clean surface and knead it for about 2-3 minutes to ensure it’s smooth and pliable.
  5. Shape the licorice ropes:

    • Divide the dough into smaller sections and roll them into long ropes. The thinner you roll them, the more licorice-like they will be. You can roll them as thin or thick as you like, but keep in mind that thinner ropes will have a better licorice texture.
  6. Cut and enjoy:

    • Once your ropes are shaped, cut them into desired lengths and let them cool completely. After they’re cooled, they’re ready to enjoy! If you want to store them, place them in an airtight container.

These Homemade Kool-Aid Licorice Ropes are a fun and creative candy to make and eat. You can experiment with different Kool-Aid flavors to create a variety of colors and tastes. Perfect for parties, kids’ snacks, or just a fun project to do at home!
