Homemade Peach Ice Cream

Ingredients

  • 2 cups (480ml) heavy cream
  • 1 cup (240ml) whole milk
  • 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 2 cups (about 3-4 medium) fresh peaches, peeled, pitted, and diced
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice (optional, to enhance the peach flavor)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the peaches:
    • In a blender or food processor, puree 1 cup of the diced peaches until smooth. Set aside.
    • Toss the remaining diced peaches with lemon juice (if using) and set aside.
  2. Make the ice cream base:
    • In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, whole milk, sugar, and vanilla extract until the sugar is fully dissolved.
    • Stir in the peach puree.
  3. Chill the mixture:
    • Cover the bowl and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours, or until thoroughly chilled.
  4. Churn the ice cream:
    • Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions (usually about 20-25 minutes).
    • During the last 5 minutes of churning, add the diced peaches.
  5. Freeze:
    • Transfer the churned ice cream to a freezer-safe container. Cover and freeze for at least 2-4 hours, or until firm.
  6. Serve:
    • Scoop and enjoy! Garnish with fresh peach slices or a drizzle of honey if desired.

Tips

  • No ice cream maker? Pour the mixture into a shallow dish and freeze. Stir every 30 minutes for the first 2-3 hours to break up ice crystals.
  • Use frozen peaches: If fresh peaches aren’t available, use thawed frozen peaches.
  • Add-ins: Mix in crushed graham crackers, chopped nuts, or a swirl of caramel for extra flavor.
