Honey Garlic Ribs

Preparation Time:

  • Prep Time: 20 minutes
  • Cook Time: 1 hour 30 minutes
  • Total Time: 1 hour 50 minutes

Difficulty Level:

  • Medium

Ingredients:

  • 2 racks of baby back ribs (about 4 pounds)
  • 1/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup honey
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup rice vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
  • 6 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp ground ginger
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes (optional, for heat)
  • 1/4 cup green onions, chopped (for garnish)
  • Sesame seeds (for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Ribs:
    • Preheat your oven to 300°F (150°C).
    • Remove the membrane from the back of the ribs for more tender results. Pat the ribs dry with paper towels.
    • Place the ribs on a large baking sheet lined with aluminum foil.
  2. Make the Marinade:
    • In a medium bowl, whisk together olive oil, soy sauce, honey, brown sugar, rice vinegar, minced garlic, ground ginger, black pepper, salt, and red pepper flakes (if using).
  3. Marinate the Ribs:
    • Pour half of the marinade over the ribs, ensuring they are well coated. Reserve the other half of the marinade for basting.
    • Cover the ribs with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 1 hour.
  4. Baste and Broil:
    • After 1 hour, remove the foil and baste the ribs with some of the reserved marinade.
    • Increase the oven temperature to 375°F (190°C) and continue baking the ribs uncovered for another 30 minutes, basting every 10 minutes with the remaining marinade.
  5. Finish the Ribs:
    • For extra caramelization, you can broil the ribs for 3-5 minutes on high after the 30 minutes of baking, keeping a close eye to avoid burning.
    • Remove the ribs from the oven and let them rest for a few minutes before cutting into individual ribs.
  6. Garnish and Serve:
    • Garnish the ribs with chopped green onions and sesame seeds.
    • Serve the honey garlic ribs hot with your favorite sides.
