How to Deep Clean Your Gas Stove in a Few Simple Steps

A gas stove can accumulate grease, food spills, and grime over time, but a thorough cleaning doesn’t have to be a chore. Follow these steps to make your stove look like new!

What You’ll Need

✔ Baking soda
✔ White vinegar
✔ Dish soap
✔ Hot water
✔ Microfiber cloths or sponges
✔ Old toothbrush or small scrub brush
✔ Plastic scraper (optional, for tough grime)
✔ Rubber gloves (optional, for protection)

Step-by-Step Cleaning Process

1. Remove Grates & Burner Caps

  • Lift off the stove grates and burner caps (the metal pieces covering the burners).

  • Soak them in hot, soapy water for 15–30 minutes to loosen grease.

2. Wipe Down the Stovetop

  • Sprinkle baking soda over the stovetop.

  • Spray vinegar on top—it will fizz and help break down grime.

  • Let it sit for 10–15 minutes, then scrub with a sponge or cloth.

3. Clean Burner Heads & Igniters

  • Use an old toothbrush dipped in soapy water to scrub the burner heads (where flames come out).

  • For clogged holes, gently poke with a toothpick or paperclip (do not use metal on igniters).

4. Tackle Tough Grease & Burnt-On Residue

  • For stubborn buildup, make a paste of baking soda + water and let it sit for 20 minutes before scrubbing.

  • Use a plastic scraper (not metal!) to lift off crusty residue.

5. Wash & Dry Grates & Burner Caps

  • Scrub the soaked grates with a sponge, rinse, and dry completely before reassembling.

6. Wipe Down Controls & Exterior

  • Dampen a cloth with soapy water and clean knobs, control panel, and sides of the stove.

  • Avoid spraying water directly near gas knobs.

7. Reassemble & Polish

  • Put everything back in place.

  • For a shiny finish, wipe with a microfiber cloth and a little vinegar-water mix (1:1).

Pro Tips for Maintenance

🔥 After Cooking: Wipe spills immediately to prevent hardening.
🧼 Weekly Touch-Up: Use a vinegar spray to keep grease at bay.
⚠ Safety First: Always ensure burners are cool before cleaning.

Your gas stove will look spotless and function better with regular deep cleaning. Happy cooking! 🍳✨
