Impossible Cheeseburger Pie

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) ground beef
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/4 tsp black pepper
  • 1 cup (120g) shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup (60g) Bisquick baking mix (or homemade pancake mix)
  • 1 cup (240ml) milk
  • 2 large eggs

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Grease a 9-inch pie plate.
  2. Cook the beef and onion:
    • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef and diced onion until the beef is browned and the onion is softened. Drain any excess fat.
    • Season with salt and black pepper.
  3. Assemble the pie:
    • Spread the cooked beef mixture evenly in the greased pie plate.
    • Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the beef.
  4. Prepare the batter:
    • In a medium bowl, whisk together the Bisquick mix, milk, and eggs until smooth.
  5. Bake:
    • Pour the batter over the beef and cheese in the pie plate.
    • Bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and a knife inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Serve:
    • Let the pie cool for 5 minutes before slicing. Serve with your favorite burger toppings, such as pickles, lettuce, tomato, or ketchup.
