Ingredients:

  • 1 box (15.25 ounces) yellow cake mix
  • 1/2 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1 container (15 ounces) ricotta cheese
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon almond extract (optional)
  • Powdered sugar (for dusting)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven:
    • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Prepare Cake Batter:
    • In a large mixing bowl, combine the cake mix, vegetable oil, water, and 3 eggs. Mix according to the package directions until well combined.
  3. Prepare Ricotta Mixture:
    • In a separate mixing bowl, combine the ricotta cheese, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, almond extract (if using), and the remaining 3 eggs. Mix until smooth and well combined.
  4. Layer Mixtures:
    • Pour the prepared cake batter into the greased baking dish and spread it out evenly.
    • Carefully spoon the ricotta mixture over the cake batter, spreading it out as evenly as possible.
  5. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for about 1 hour, or until the cake is set and a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean. The ricotta mixture will sink into the cake as it bakes, creating a layered effect.
  6. Cool:
