Keto Cheese Twisted Bread

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 2 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 ½ cups almond flour
  • 2 tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp garlic powder
  • 1 tsp Italian seasoning (optional)
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 2 tbsp butter, melted (for brushing)
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Dough:
  • Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or a silicone baking mat.
  • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the shredded mozzarella cheese and cream cheese. Microwave for 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until the cheeses are melted and smooth.
  • Stir in the eggs, one at a time, until well combined.
  • In a separate bowl, mix the almond flour, baking powder, garlic powder, Italian seasoning (if using), salt, and pepper.
  • Gradually add the dry ingredients into the melted cheese mixture. Stir until a dough forms.
2. Shape the Bread:
  • Transfer the dough to a clean surface and knead it a few times until smooth and well combined.
  • Divide the dough into two equal portions. Roll each portion into a long rope, approximately 12 inches in length.
  • Place both ropes next to each other on the prepared baking sheet and twist them together to form a braid or spiral shape.
3. Add the Cheddar Cheese:
  • Sprinkle the shredded cheddar cheese over the twisted bread, pressing it gently into the dough.
4. Bake the Bread:
  • Brush the top of the dough with the melted butter to add a golden color and extra flavor.
  • Bake the twisted bread in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until the bread is golden brown and fully cooked through.
5. Serve:
  • Allow the bread to cool for a few minutes before slicing. Serve warm and enjoy as a savory snack, side dish, or even with a low-carb dipping sauce.

Tips:

  • Storage: Store any leftover bread in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days. You can also freeze the bread for up to 1 month—just reheat in the oven for the best texture.
