Simple Home Remedy for Thick Toenails

Ingredients:

  • Apple cider vinegar (antifungal & antibacterial)
  • Baking soda (exfoliates & neutralizes odor)
  • Epsom salt (softens nails & reduces inflammation)
  • Coconut oil or olive oil (moisturizes & fights fungus)
  • Tea tree oil (optional) (powerful antifungal)

Method:

  1. Soak Your Feet (2-3 Times per Week)
    • Mix 1 part apple cider vinegar with 2 parts warm water in a basin.
    • Add 1 tbsp Epsom salt and 1 tbsp baking soda, then soak feet for 15-20 minutes.
    • This helps soften the nail and fight fungal growth.
  2. Exfoliate Gently
    • After soaking, use a nail brush or pumice stone to gently remove dead skin and thin the nail surface.
  3. Apply Antifungal Treatment
    • Mix 1 tbsp coconut oil with 2-3 drops of tea tree oil (if available).
    • Massage into the affected toenails and surrounding skin.
    • Coconut oil has natural antifungal properties, and tea tree oil boosts the effect.
  4. Keep Feet Dry & Clean
    • Moisture worsens fungal infections, so dry feet thoroughly after washing.
    • Wear breathable socks and change them daily.

Why This Works:

✔ Apple cider vinegar creates an acidic environment that inhibits fungus.
✔ Baking soda & Epsom salt soften nails for easier trimming.
✔ Coconut oil & tea tree oil combat fungal infections naturally.

Additional Tips:

  • Trim nails straight across (never too short) to prevent ingrown toenails.
  • Disinfect nail clippers after each use to avoid reinfection.
  • Wear open-toed shoes when possible to reduce moisture buildup.

Consistency is key! This remedy may take weeks to months to show full results, but many have found it effective over time. For persistent or painful cases, consult a podiatrist.

Would you like variations (like using hydrogen peroxide or Vicks VapoRub)? Let me know! 👣
