Moist Eggless Chocolate Cake

Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract
  • 1 tsp white vinegar (or apple cider vinegar)
  • 1 cup milk (dairy or plant-based)
  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour an 8-inch round or square cake pan.
  2. Mix Dry Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, and salt.
  3. Combine Wet Ingredients: In another bowl, mix the vegetable oil, vanilla extract, vinegar, and milk until well combined.
  4. Combine Mixtures: Gradually add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients, stirring until just combined. Be careful not to overmix. If using, fold in the chocolate chips.
  5. Bake: Pour the batter into the prepared cake pan and smooth the top. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  6. Cool: Allow the cake to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack to cool completely.
  7. Serve: Once cooled, you can frost it with your favorite chocolate frosting or enjoy it plain, dusted with powdered sugar.

Tips:

  • For an extra moist cake, you can add a little applesauce or yogurt to the batter.
  • Store the cake in an airtight container at room temperature for a few days or refrigerate for longer shelf life.
