No-Bake Caramel Pretzel Crack Bars Recipe

These No-Bake Caramel Pretzel Crack Bars are the perfect blend of salty, sweet, and crunchy goodness. With layers of pretzels, gooey caramel, and a chocolate topping, they’re an easy and irresistible treat for any occasion.

Ingredients

Base Layer:

  • 4 cups mini pretzels (lightly crushed)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed

Caramel Layer:

  • 1 cup caramel candies, unwrapped
  • 2 tbsp heavy cream

Chocolate Layer:

  • 1 1/2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 tbsp coconut oil or vegetable oil (optional, for a glossy finish)

Optional Toppings:

  • 1/4 cup crushed pretzels (for garnish)
  • 1/4 cup coarse sea salt (or to taste)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Pan:
    • Line an 8×8-inch or 9×9-inch baking pan with parchment paper, leaving some overhang for easy removal.
  2. Make the Base Layer:
    • In a medium saucepan, melt butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar and cook, stirring constantly, until the mixture is bubbly and smooth (about 3–4 minutes).
    • Pour the caramelized mixture over the crushed pretzels and mix well. Quickly press the mixture into the prepared pan in an even layer. Chill in the refrigerator for about 15 minutes.
  3. Create the Caramel Layer:
    • In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the caramel candies with heavy cream in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until smooth.
    • Pour the caramel over the chilled pretzel layer, spreading it evenly. Return to the refrigerator for another 15–20 minutes to set.
  4. Make the Chocolate Layer:
    • Melt the chocolate chips with the coconut oil in a microwave-safe bowl in 30-second intervals, stirring until smooth.
    • Spread the melted chocolate evenly over the caramel layer. Sprinkle with crushed pretzels or sea salt, if desired.
  5. Chill and Set:
    • Place the pan in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour or until fully set.
  6. Slice and Serve:
    • Once set, lift the bars out of the pan using the parchment paper. Slice into squares or bars with a sharp knife. Serve immediately or store for later.

Storage Tips

  • Store the bars in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to a week.
  • For longer storage, freeze the bars for up to 2 months and thaw in the refrigerator before serving.

These bars are a delicious balance of salty and sweet with minimal effort—perfect for parties, potlucks, or a quick indulgent snack!
