Posted on July 6, 2025

🍪 Oatmeal Raisin Walnut Cookies – Classic, Chewy & Irresistible!

These perfectly spiced, hearty cookies are loaded with plump raisins, crunchy walnuts, and wholesome oats for a nostalgic treat with the ideal balance of sweetness and texture. Crispy edges, chewy centers—just like Grandma used to make!

📝 Ingredients

Wet Ingredients:

  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, softened

  • ¾ cup packed light brown sugar

  • ½ cup granulated sugar

  • 2 large eggs

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients:

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking soda

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • ½ tsp salt

Mix-Ins:

  • 3 cups old-fashioned rolled oats (not instant)

  • 1 cup raisins (soak in warm water 10 mins for extra plumpness!)

  • 1 cup chopped walnuts (toast for deeper flavor)

👩‍🍳 Instructions

1. Prep & Preheat

  • Soak raisins (optional but recommended for juicier bites).

  • Toast walnuts (350°F for 5-7 mins), then chop.

  • Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C). Line baking sheets with parchment.

2. Cream Butter & Sugars

  • In a large bowl, beat butter, brown sugar, and granulated sugar until light and fluffy (2-3 mins).

  • Add eggs one at a time, then vanilla. Mix until smooth.

3. Combine Dry Ingredients

  • In a separate bowl, whisk flour, baking soda, cinnamon, and salt.

  • Gradually add to wet ingredients, mixing just until combined (don’t overmix).

4. Fold in Oats, Raisins & Walnuts

  • Stir in oats, then drained raisins and walnuts.

5. Scoop & Bake

  • Drop 2-tbsp balls of dough onto sheets (leave 2″ space; they spread!).

  • Bake 10-12 mins until edges are golden but centers look slightly underdone.

  • Cool on sheets 5 mins, then transfer to a rack.

🌟 Pro Tips

✅ Chewier Cookies: Underbake slightly (they firm up as they cool).
✅ Crispier Cookies: Bake 1-2 mins longer or use half butter, half shortening.
✅ Flavor Boost: Add ¼ tsp nutmeg or allspice for warmth.
✅ Storage: Keep in an airtight container for up to 5 days (or freeze dough balls for fresh-baked cookies anytime!).
