Here’s a recipe for Perfect Prime Rib that’s sure to impress!
Perfect Prime Rib Recipe
Ingredients
- 1 (4-5 lb) prime rib roast (bone-in or boneless)
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 tablespoons fresh rosemary, chopped (or 1 tablespoon dried)
- 2 tablespoons fresh thyme, chopped (or 1 tablespoon dried)
- 2 teaspoons salt
- 1 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Optional: Kitchen twine (for tying)
Instructions
- Preheat the Oven:
- Preheat your oven to 450°F (232°C).
- Prepare the Roast:
- Remove the prime rib from the refrigerator and let it sit at room temperature for about 1 hour.
- Pat the roast dry with paper towels.
- Make the Herb Paste:
- In a small bowl, mix the olive oil, garlic, rosemary, thyme, salt, pepper, and onion powder to form a paste.
- Season the Roast:
- Rub the herb mixture all over the prime rib, making sure to cover all sides. If using a bone-in roast, you can tie the bones together with kitchen twine for easier slicing later.
- Roast the Prime Rib:
- Place the roast bone-side down (if applicable) on a rack in a roasting pan.
- Roast in the preheated oven for 15 minutes. Then, reduce the temperature to 325°F (163°C) and continue roasting for about 1.5 to 2 hours, or until the internal temperature reaches your desired doneness:
- Rare: 120°F (49°C)
- Medium rare: 130°F (54°C)
- Medium: 140°F (60°C)
- Rest the Roast:
- Once the roast reaches your desired temperature, remove it from the oven and tent it loosely with aluminum foil. Let it rest for at least 20-30 minutes. This allows the juices to redistribute.
- Slice and Serve:
- After resting, slice the prime rib into thick slices and serve with your favorite sides, such as roasted vegetables, mashed potatoes, or a rich gravy.
Enjoy!
This Perfect Prime Rib is juicy and flavorful, making it a fantastic centerpiece for any special occasion!
