Puff Pastry Treats Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 1 package (17.3 oz) frozen puff pastry (2 sheets), thawed
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)
  • Fillings (choose one or more):
    • Sweet Fillings:
      • Fruit preserves (like raspberry, apricot, or strawberry)
      • Chocolate chips
      • Cream cheese mixed with sugar and vanilla
    • Savory Fillings:
      • Cooked and crumbled sausage with cheese
      • Spinach and feta cheese
      • Cooked chicken with cheese and herbs

Instructions:

1. Preheat the Oven:

  • Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

2. Prepare the Puff Pastry:

  • On a lightly floured surface, roll out each sheet of puff pastry to smooth it out. Cut into squares or rectangles (about 4×4 inches).

3. Add the Filling:

  • Place a tablespoon of your chosen filling in the center of each pastry square. Be careful not to overfill.

4. Fold and Seal:

  • Fold the pastry over to create a triangle or rectangle. Press the edges together to seal, and use a fork to crimp the edges for a decorative touch.

5. Egg Wash:

  • In a small bowl, beat the egg and brush it over the tops of the pastries to give them a golden color while baking.

6. Bake:

  • Place the filled pastries on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 15-20 minutes, or until golden brown and puffed.

7. Serve:

  • Allow to cool slightly before serving. Enjoy warm!
