Salted Caramel Kentucky Butter Cake

Ingredients:

For the Cake:

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup milk

For the Butter Sauce:

  • 1/2 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup water
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon sea salt (adjust to taste)

For the Caramel Drizzle:

  • 1/2 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • Flaky sea salt, for garnish

Instructions:

  1. Preheat Oven: Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a bundt pan.
  2. Make the Cake Batter:
    • In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter and sugar until light and fluffy.
    • Add the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
    • In another bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add this dry mixture to the wet mixture, alternating with the milk. Mix until just combined.
  3. Bake the Cake: Pour the batter into the prepared bundt pan and smooth the top. Bake for about 50-60 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean. Let it cool in the pan for about 10 minutes, then invert onto a wire rack to cool completely.
  4. Make the Butter Sauce:
    • In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the sugar and water, bringing to a boil.
    • Reduce the heat and let it simmer for about 5 minutes. Remove from heat and stir in the vanilla extract and sea salt.
  5. Glaze the Cake: Once the cake has cooled, poke holes all over the top using a skewer or fork. Pour the butter sauce over the cake, allowing it to soak in.
  6. Add Caramel Drizzle: Drizzle the caramel sauce over the cake.
  7. Garnish: Finish with a sprinkle of flaky sea salt for that salted caramel flavor.
  8. Serve: Slice and enjoy your delicious salted caramel Kentucky butter cake!

This cake is incredibly moist and full of flavor, making it a perfect treat for gatherings or a cozy night in. Enjoy!
