Sausage and Cheese Crescent Ring

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound breakfast sausage (mild or spicy, based on your preference)
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite cheese)
  • 1 can crescent roll dough (8-count)
  • 1/2 cup cream cheese, softened
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1 teaspoon onion powder (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, chopped (optional for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the sausage:

    • In a skillet, cook the breakfast sausage over medium heat until browned and crumbled. Drain any excess grease and set the sausage aside to cool slightly.
  2. Mix the filling:

    • In a large bowl, combine the cooked sausage, shredded cheddar cheese, and softened cream cheese. If you’re using garlic powder or onion powder for extra flavor, add it here. Mix everything together until well combined.
  3. Preheat the oven:

    • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  4. Prepare the crescent dough:

    • Unroll the crescent roll dough and lay the pieces in a circular shape on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Overlap the wider ends of the triangles in a ring shape, leaving a gap in the center to create a ring. The points of the triangles should face outward.
  5. Fill the ring:

    • Spoon the sausage and cheese mixture into the center of the dough ring, spreading it evenly.
  6. Wrap the crescent dough:

    • Fold the outer points of the crescent dough over the filling, tucking them under the center to form a sealed ring. You may need to pinch the edges together to ensure it stays in place during baking.
  7. Bake:

    • Bake in the preheated oven for 20-25 minutes, or until the crescent dough is golden brown and the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  8. Garnish and serve:

    • Once baked, remove the Sausage and Cheese Crescent Ring from the oven and allow it to cool for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh parsley, if desired, and slice it into wedges for serving.

This Sausage and Cheese Crescent Ring is perfect for serving to a crowd, and it’s easy to customize with different types of cheese or seasonings. You could also add bell peppers or mushrooms to the sausage mixture for extra flavor and texture.

Enjoy this savory, cheesy treat at your next gathering or as a quick weeknight dinner. Would you like to try any variations?
