Sausage and Cream Cheese Crescent Rolls

These sausage and cream cheese crescent rolls are a simple and delicious appetizer or breakfast idea. The creamy, savory filling wrapped in flaky crescent dough is always a crowd-pleaser!

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) ground breakfast sausage (mild, spicy, or your choice)
  • 8 oz (225g) cream cheese, softened
  • 2 cans (8 oz each) refrigerated crescent roll dough
  • 1/4 tsp garlic powder (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 1/4 cup (60g) shredded cheddar cheese (optional, for added richness)

Instructions

  1. Cook the sausage:
    • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground sausage until browned and fully cooked. Break it into small crumbles as it cooks.
    • Drain any excess grease and set aside to cool slightly.
  2. Mix the filling:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine the cooked sausage, softened cream cheese, garlic powder (if using), and shredded cheddar cheese (if using). Mix until well combined.
  3. Prepare the crescent rolls:
    • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C). Line a baking sheet with parchment paper or lightly grease it.
    • Unroll the crescent roll dough and separate it into individual triangles.
  4. Fill and roll:
    • Place a spoonful of the sausage and cream cheese mixture (about 1-2 tablespoons) onto the wide end of each crescent triangle.
    • Roll up the dough from the wide end to the pointed tip, enclosing the filling. Place on the prepared baking sheet with the tip side down.
  5. Bake:
    • Bake in the preheated oven for 10-12 minutes, or until the crescent rolls are golden brown and fully cooked.
  6. Cool and serve:
    • Allow the rolls to cool for a few minutes before serving warm.

Tips & Variations

  • Make-ahead: Prepare the sausage and cream cheese filling in advance and refrigerate until ready to use.
  • Spicy kick: Use spicy sausage or add a pinch of red pepper flakes to the filling for some heat.
  • Dip pairing: Serve with ranch dressing, honey mustard, or marinara sauce for dipping.

Enjoy your creamy, savory bites!
