Seafood Boil Recipe
Ingredients
- For the Boil:
- 2 lbs small red potatoes
- 1 lb corn on the cob, cut into halves or thirds
- 1 lb andouille sausage, sliced
- 2 lbs shrimp, peeled and deveined (or a mix of shrimp, crab, and clams)
- 1 lb mussels or clams (optional)
- 6-8 cups water
- 1/4 cup Old Bay seasoning (or to taste)
- 1 lemon, halved
- 4-6 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt, to taste
- Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)
Instructions
- Boil the Potatoes:
- In a large pot, bring 6-8 cups of water to a boil. Add the potatoes and cook for about 10-15 minutes until they are tender but still firm.
- Add Sausage and Corn:
- Once the potatoes are nearly done, add the sliced sausage and corn to the pot. Continue to boil for another 5-7 minutes.
- Add Seasoning and Shrimp:
- Stir in the Old Bay seasoning, minced garlic, and lemon halves. Then, add the shrimp and mussels (if using) to the pot. Cook for an additional 3-5 minutes, or until the shrimp are pink and the mussels open up.
- Drain and Serve:
- Carefully drain the contents of the pot using a colander. You can line the serving area with parchment paper or newspaper for a fun presentation.
- Pour the seafood boil onto a large platter or the lined table. Squeeze the lemon juice over the top and garnish with fresh parsley.
- Enjoy:
- Serve with melted butter, additional lemon wedges, and your favorite dipping sauces. Enjoy your seafood feast!
Tips:
- Feel free to customize your seafood selection based on preferences and availability.
- You can add other vegetables like onions, bell peppers, or garlic cloves for extra flavor.
