Seven-Layer Taco Salad Recipe

Ingredients

  • For the Salad:
    • 1 lb ground beef (or turkey)
    • 1 packet taco seasoning
    • 1 can (15 oz) black beans, rinsed and drained
    • 1 cup corn (canned or frozen, thawed)
    • 1 cup diced tomatoes (fresh or canned)
    • 1 cup shredded lettuce
    • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or Mexican blend)
    • 1/2 cup sour cream (or Greek yogurt)
    • 1/2 cup salsa
    • 1 avocado, diced (optional)
    • Tortilla chips (for serving)

Instructions

  1. Cook the Ground Meat:
    • In a skillet over medium heat, cook the ground beef (or turkey) until browned. Drain excess fat. Add taco seasoning and follow package instructions (usually adding water and simmering for a few minutes).
  2. Prepare the Layers:
    • In a large serving dish or individual bowls, start layering your ingredients:
      1. Layer 1: Cooked ground meat
      2. Layer 2: Black beans
      3. Layer 3: Corn
      4. Layer 4: Diced tomatoes
      5. Layer 5: Shredded lettuce
      6. Layer 6: Shredded cheese
      7. Layer 7: Sour cream and salsa (drizzled on top)
  3. Add Avocado:
    • If using, sprinkle diced avocado on top for extra creaminess.
  4. Serve:
    • Serve with tortilla chips on the side for scooping.
