Sizzling Chinese Pepper Steak with Onions Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 lb flank steak, thinly sliced against the grain
  • 2 tbsp soy sauce
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 tbsp vegetable oil (divided)
  • 1 bell pepper (red, green, or yellow), sliced
  • 1 large onion, sliced
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 inch ginger, minced (optional)
  • 1/4 cup beef broth or water
  • 2 tbsp oyster sauce (optional)
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • Cooked rice or noodles for serving

Instructions

  1. Marinate the Steak:
    • In a bowl, combine the sliced flank steak with soy sauce and cornstarch. Mix well and let it marinate for about 15-20 minutes.
  2. Cook the Vegetables:
    • In a large skillet or wok, heat 1 tablespoon of vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Add the sliced onions and bell pepper. Stir-fry for about 3-4 minutes until they start to soften. Add the minced garlic and ginger (if using) and cook for another minute. Remove the vegetables from the skillet and set aside.
  3. Cook the Steak:
    • In the same skillet, add the remaining tablespoon of oil. Add the marinated steak and cook for about 3-4 minutes, stirring frequently, until browned and cooked through.
  4. Combine Everything:
    • Return the cooked vegetables to the skillet with the steak. Add the beef broth, oyster sauce (if using), and black pepper. Stir everything together and cook for another 2-3 minutes until heated through.
  5. Serve:
    • Serve the sizzling pepper steak over cooked rice or noodles. Enjoy!
