Steak with Mushroom Sauce Recipe

Ingredients:

  • For the Steak:
    • 2 ribeye or sirloin steaks (about 1 inch thick)
    • Salt and pepper, to taste
    • 1 tablespoon olive oil
    • 1 tablespoon butter
  • For the Mushroom Sauce:
    • 8 oz (about 225g) mushrooms (cremini or button), sliced
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1/2 cup beef broth
    • 1/2 cup heavy cream
    • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
    • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme (or 1/2 teaspoon dried thyme)
    • Salt and pepper, to taste
    • Fresh parsley, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Steaks:

  • Remove the steaks from the refrigerator and let them sit at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Season both sides with salt and pepper.

2. Cook the Steaks:

  • In a skillet over medium-high heat, heat the olive oil and butter. Once hot, add the steaks to the skillet.
  • Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare (adjust cooking time for your preferred doneness). Once cooked, remove the steaks from the skillet and let them rest on a plate, covered loosely with foil.

3. Make the Mushroom Sauce:

  • In the same skillet, add the sliced mushrooms. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes, or until they are golden brown and have released their moisture.
  • Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  • Pour in the beef broth and scrape the bottom of the skillet to deglaze, releasing any flavorful bits. Let it simmer for about 2-3 minutes.
  • Stir in the heavy cream, Worcestershire sauce, thyme, salt, and pepper. Let the sauce simmer for another 3-4 minutes until slightly thickened.

4. Serve:

  • Slice the steaks if desired and plate them. Spoon the mushroom sauce over the steaks and garnish with fresh parsley.

Enjoy!

This Steak with Mushroom Sauce is rich, savory, and perfect for a delicious dinner! Serve it with mashed potatoes or a side salad for a complete meal.
