Swiss Mushroom Melt Delight 🍔🧀🍞

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 lb ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 4 slices Swiss cheese
  • 1 tbsp butter
  • 4 slices sourdough or rye bread
  • 1 cup mushrooms (sliced)
  • 1 tbsp oil for grilling
  • 2 tbsp mayo or garlic aioli
  • 1 tsp salt & black pepper

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Beef Patties:

    • In a bowl, combine the ground beef with Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix gently to avoid overworking the meat.
    • Form the beef mixture into 4 equal-sized patties, making them slightly larger than your bread slices to account for shrinkage during cooking.
  2. Cook the Mushrooms:

    • Heat 1 tablespoon of oil in a skillet over medium heat.
    • Add the sliced mushrooms and sauté them for about 5-7 minutes, or until they are soft and browned. Set them aside.
  3. Cook the Beef Patties:

    • In the same skillet, add a little more oil if necessary, and cook the beef patties over medium-high heat for about 3-4 minutes on each side (for medium doneness). During the last minute of cooking, place a slice of Swiss cheese on each patty and cover the pan to melt the cheese.
  4. Toast the Bread:

    • While the patties are cooking, melt the butter in a separate pan over medium heat. Toast the slices of sourdough or rye bread until golden and crispy, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  5. Assemble the Swiss Mushroom Melt:

    • Spread mayo or garlic aioli on one side of each slice of toasted bread.
    • Place a beef patty with melted Swiss cheese on one slice of bread. Top the patty with a generous portion of sautéed mushrooms.
    • Close the sandwich with the other slice of bread, aioli side down.
  6. Serve:

    • Cut the sandwich in half and serve immediately while it’s warm and gooey!
