Tuna Melt Patties Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 2 cans (5 oz each) tuna, drained
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper (optional)
  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • ¼ cup breadcrumbs (or crushed crackers)
  • 2 tablespoons mayonnaise
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard (optional, for extra flavor)
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil (for frying)
  • ½ cup shredded cheddar cheese (or your favorite melting cheese)
  • Optional: chopped parsley, green onions, or pickles for added flavor

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the mixture:
    • In a large bowl, combine the drained tuna, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, pepper, egg, breadcrumbs, mayonnaise, and Dijon mustard (if using). Mix well until everything is evenly combined.
    • Fold in the shredded cheese and any optional add-ins (like parsley or green onions).
  2. Form the patties:
    • Divide the mixture into 4-6 equal portions, depending on how big you want your patties.
    • Shape each portion into a round patty, about ½-inch thick. Press firmly so they hold together.
  3. Cook the patties:
    • Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat.
    • Carefully place the patties in the skillet and cook for 3-4 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and crispy. Be gentle when flipping to prevent them from breaking.
  4. Serve:
    • Serve the patties warm on their own, with a side salad, or as a sandwich on toasted bread with lettuce, tomato, and extra cheese for a classic tuna melt experience.

Enjoy your delicious Tuna Melt Patties! Let me know if you’d like more variations or tips. 😊
