Turkey Stuffing Meatloaf

Ingredients:

  • For the Meatloaf:
    • 1 1/2 pounds ground turkey (lean or regular)
    • 1 large egg
    • 1/2 cup milk
    • 1 cup dry stuffing mix (or use homemade stuffing mix)
    • 1/2 cup chopped onion
    • 1/2 cup celery, finely chopped
    • 2 cloves garlic, minced
    • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
    • 1 teaspoon dried sage
    • 1/2 teaspoon salt
    • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • For the Glaze:
    • 1/4 cup ketchup
    • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
    • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
    • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Meatloaf:

  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • In a large bowl, combine the ground turkey, egg, milk, dry stuffing mix, chopped onion, celery, minced garlic, thyme, sage, salt, and pepper.
  • Mix everything together until well combined. You can use your hands or a spoon to mix the ingredients.

2. Shape the Meatloaf:

  • Transfer the meat mixture into a lightly greased loaf pan (9×5-inch size works well) or shape it into a loaf on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.
  • Press the mixture down firmly to ensure an even loaf.

3. Prepare the Glaze:

  • In a small bowl, combine the ketchup, brown sugar, Dijon mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. Stir until smooth and well-combined.
  • Spread the glaze evenly over the top of the meatloaf, covering the surface.

4. Bake the Meatloaf:

  • Place the meatloaf in the preheated oven and bake for 45-50 minutes, or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C) when checked with a meat thermometer. The meatloaf should be firm and golden brown on top.
  • If you prefer a crispier glaze, you can broil the meatloaf for an additional 2-3 minutes at the end of baking.

5. Rest and Serve:

  • Let the meatloaf rest for 10 minutes before slicing. This allows the juices to redistribute, making it more moist.
  • Slice and serve with your favorite side dishes, such as mashed potatoes, roasted vegetables, or a fresh salad.

Tips:

  • Stuffing Variations: You can customize the stuffing mix by adding chopped apples, cranberries, or nuts for extra flavor.
  • Moisture: Ground turkey can sometimes be a bit dry, so the milk and stuffing help keep the meatloaf moist. If you’d like to add more flavor, you can incorporate some chopped mushrooms or carrots.
  • Make Ahead: This meatloaf can be assembled ahead of time and refrigerated for up to 24 hours before baking.

This Turkey Stuffing Meatloaf is a cozy and flavorful dish that’s perfect for a family dinner or special occasions. Enjoy the rich flavors of stuffing combined with the lightness of turkey for a delicious and comforting meal! 🍽️🍗
