Classic Pound Cake Recipe 🧈🍰

Rich, buttery, and perfectly dense—this old-fashioned pound cake is a timeless dessert with a tender crumb and golden crust. Simple ingredients, foolproof method!

Ingredients

  • 1 cup (225g) unsalted butter, softened

  • 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar

  • 5 large eggs, room temperature

  • 2 cups (240g) all-purpose flour

  • 1 tsp baking powder

  • ¼ tsp salt

  • ¼ cup (60ml) whole milk

  • 1 tsp vanilla extract


Instructions

1. Prep & Mix

  • Preheat oven to 325°F (160°C). Grease and flour a 9×5-inch loaf pan.

  • In a bowl, whisk flour, baking powder, and salt. Set aside.

  • In a large bowl, cream butter and sugar until light and fluffy (~3 mins).

  • Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each.

  • Alternate adding dry ingredients and milk, starting and ending with flour. Mix until just combined.

  • Stir in vanilla.

2. Bake

  • Pour batter into the pan and smooth the top.

  • Bake 60-70 mins until a toothpick comes out clean.

  • Cool in pan 15 mins, then transfer to a wire rack.
