Creamy Garlic Parmesan Broccoli

This Creamy Garlic Parmesan Broccoli is a quick and delicious side dish that transforms simple broccoli into a rich, flavorful accompaniment. The creamy garlic sauce with Parmesan cheese adds indulgence to every bite.


Ingredients

  • 4 cups broccoli florets (fresh or frozen)
  • 2 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cup heavy cream (or half-and-half for a lighter option)
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt (or to taste)
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch of red pepper flakes (optional, for a bit of heat)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Broccoli:
    • If using fresh broccoli, steam or blanch it for 3–4 minutes until tender-crisp. If using frozen, cook according to package instructions. Set aside.
  2. Make the Sauce:
    • In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the minced garlic and sauté for 1–2 minutes until fragrant, being careful not to burn it.
    • Stir in the heavy cream and bring to a gentle simmer.
  3. Add the Parmesan:
    • Lower the heat and whisk in the grated Parmesan cheese until the sauce is smooth and creamy. Season with salt, pepper, and red pepper flakes, if using.
  4. Combine with Broccoli:
    • Add the cooked broccoli to the skillet, tossing to coat it evenly with the sauce. Cook for an additional 2–3 minutes, stirring occasionally, until heated through.
  5. Serve:
    • Transfer to a serving dish and garnish with extra Parmesan or fresh parsley, if desired.

Tips:

  • For added flavor, sprinkle with crispy bacon bits or toasted breadcrumbs before serving.
  • This dish pairs beautifully with grilled chicken, steak, or fish for a complete meal.
