Grilled Cheese Sliders

Ingredients:

  • 12 slider rolls (or mini sandwich buns)
  • 8 oz cheddar cheese, sliced (or your favorite cheese like Swiss, mozzarella, or American)
  • 4 tbsp unsalted butter, softened
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise (optional, for extra crispiness)
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder (optional)
  • 1/4 teaspoon dried oregano or Italian seasoning (optional)

Instructions:

1. Prepare the Rolls:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Slice the slider rolls in half horizontally, keeping the tops and bottoms intact (you should have 12 slider bottoms and 12 slider tops).

2. Make the Butter Mixture:

  • In a small bowl, mix together the softened butter, mayonnaise (if using), garlic powder, and oregano or Italian seasoning until well combined.
  • This mixture will give the sliders a delicious, golden, crispy texture when grilled.

3. Assemble the Sliders:

  • Spread a thin layer of the butter mixture on the inside of both the top and bottom of each slider bun.
  • Place a slice of cheese (or a few smaller pieces) on each bottom half of the bun.
  • Top with the slider bun tops to complete the sandwich.

4. Grill the Sliders:

  • Place the assembled sliders on a baking sheet and cover them with foil.
  • Bake for about 10-12 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and the buns are golden and crispy.
  • For an extra crispy finish, you can broil the sliders for 1-2 minutes at the end, keeping a close eye to avoid burning.

5. Serve:

  • Once baked, remove the foil and cut the sliders apart.
  • Serve warm with a side of tomato soup for dipping, if desired!

Tips:

  • Cheese Variety: Feel free to mix up the cheeses—mozzarella, Gruyère, or provolone all work wonderfully.
  • Add-ins: For extra flavor, add thin slices of tomato, crispy bacon, or sautéed onions inside the sliders before baking.
  • Mini Grill Option: If you prefer the traditional stovetop grilled cheese method, you can cook each slider on a grill pan or skillet, pressing them down with a spatula to get a crispy crust on both sides.

These Grilled Cheese Sliders are simple yet delicious, making them a perfect appetizer or comfort food to share! 🧀🍞
