Here’s a simple and delicious recipe for one-pot baked pasta that’s perfect for a cozy meal!

One-Pot Baked Pasta Recipe

Ingredients:

  • 12 ounces pasta (penne, rigatoni, or fusilli work well)
  • 1 pound ground beef or Italian sausage (optional)
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2-3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 can (28 ounces) crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cups vegetable or chicken broth
  • 1 teaspoon dried Italian herbs (oregano, basil, thyme)
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1-2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • Fresh basil or parsley for garnish (optional)

Instructions:

1. Brown the Meat (if using):

  • In a large pot or Dutch oven, heat a little oil over medium heat. Add the ground beef or sausage and cook until browned. Drain excess fat if necessary. Remove meat and set aside.

2. Sauté Onion and Garlic:

  • In the same pot, add the chopped onion and cook until softened, about 5 minutes. Add the minced garlic and cook for another minute until fragrant.

3. Add Remaining Ingredients:

  • Stir in the crushed tomatoes, broth, dried herbs, salt, and pepper. If you browned meat, return it to the pot. Bring the mixture to a boil.

4. Add Pasta:

  • Add the uncooked pasta to the pot. Stir to combine. Reduce heat to a simmer, cover, and cook for about 15-20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the pasta is cooked and most of the liquid is absorbed.

5. Add Cheese:

  • Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). If you want a baked finish, transfer the pasta mixture to a baking dish. Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly on top.

6. Bake:

  • Bake in the preheated oven for 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.

7. Serve:

  • Remove from the oven and let it sit for a few minutes. Garnish with fresh basil or parsley if desired.
